The Municipality of Polemidia, in collaboration with the Green Energy Group and with the active engagement of local primary schools, successfully hosted its first Ecological Conference on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the 1st Primary School of Polemidia.
The event garnered significant interest and enthusiastic participation from students, educators, and community members.
Held under the auspices of the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Dr. Maria Panayiotou, the conference featured a comprehensive program designed to foster environmental awareness. The agenda included insightful presentations, interactive workshops, and engaging creative activities.
The conference commenced with opening addresses from key local figures:
- Mr. Andreas Theodorou, Mayor of Polemidia
- Mr. Vasilis Vasiliou, President of the Polemidia School Board
Distinguished speakers shared their expertise and perspectives on crucial environmental topics:
- Ms. Skevi Paraskeva, Health Officer of the Municipality of Polemidia
- Mr. Dimitris Koutroukidis , Senior Officer at the Department of Environment
- Ms. Mariella Christodoulidou, Head of Quality & Operations at Green Energy Group.
A highlight of the conference was the highly engaging hands-on workshops. Students actively navigated, demonstrating creativity and developing innovative ideas centered on recycling, energy conservation, and sustainable living practices. The tangible outcomes of these workshops were presented at the conference’s conclusion, effectively showcasing the children’s environmental understanding and imaginative solutions.
